Connectors of Sequence:

When writing a narrative, we often use connectors of sequence to make the order of events clear:

      • At first, / In the beginning, / For a start,

      • In the beginning, / At first, / To begin with, (en primer lugar)

      • Secondly,

      • In the end, (=al final de la historia) / Finally,

      • Eventually, (=finalmente, con el tiempo)

      • Finally, / In the end,

      • Previously,


Connetors of Addition:

At the beginning of a sentence followed by a comma:

· Also, / Furthermore, / In addition, / Moreover,

· Furthermore, / Also, / In addition, / Moreover,

· In addition, / Also, / Furthermore, / Moreover,

· Also, / Furthermore, / In addition, / Moreover,

At the beginning of a sentence with no comma:

· As well as ... / Besides + Vb.-ing ...

· Besides + Vb.-ing ... / As well as ...

Inside a sentence and with no comma or at the end:

... also ...

... as well as ...

... , too.
