London - Tower Bridge
Let’s start this exciting adventure by knowing a little bit more about the city that we are going to visit in this journey. Our first stop in London is Tower bridge, one of the most famous sights in London.
At the end of the session,you will have:
watched a tourist video about London and answered some questions.
known all the outcomes you have to produce along this journey.
started thinking about what an article of opinion is and opened up your Google Sites about London.
Watch the following video and try to write down, at least 4 of the most famous places in London: Top 10 Attractions London - UK Travel Guide
After having watched the video, answer the following questions orally:
Do you know any other famous places in London?
Have you been to any other European capital cities?
Do you remember any of the monuments you visited?
Any interesting or favourite landmarks?
Do you recommend visiting that city? Why? Why not?
As you are going to see in a few moments, Tower Bridge will be the fist place you should include on a Google Site map. Don't forget about it!
Outcomes to produce while in London
At the end of the "London" project, you will have produced the following outcomes:
Task: Each project has a different task, with different steps to complete it. In this project, you have to write an article of opinion and publish it through Twitter. All the different steps and activities within this task will be identified thanks to their colour, orange.
Challenge: Along the different projects, there is a challenge which is common to all the projects, with a Google Site, where you have to search for certain information of the different English-speaking cities you are going to visit. The different activities are also going to be distributed in different steps and you are going to have some help to look for and select the information for the collaborative challenge. This is designed to be done in groups of 2/3 students. All the activities within this challenge will be identified thanks to their colour, green.
Learning Diary: You have to use a blog (Wordpress, Blogger, Edublogs or others), as your learning diary. You will publish the different reflections on the activities you will find throughout the projects, the videos of the conversations with your classmates, the reflections on the daily work, all the different tasks, the link to your Google Site challenge, and all the other activities that you will be discovering along the projects. All the activities within this task will be identified thanks to their colour, blue.
Twitter will be a tool you should use to spread and share your work. Along the project you will be required to publish on Twitter using one (or both) of these hashtags: #taskopinion and #EDIAlondon

Step 1: Think about what you have to do
At the end of this task, you will have been able to write an article individually about the best way of entertainment for teenagers and why. Just follow all the different steps you are going to find at the different landmarks in London.
By doing so, you will be awarded an accomplishment badge by your teacher who will be able to create them using this website.
But first, we have to think about what an article of opinion is and brainstorm some answers to these questions:
What parts should it contain?
Which topics can I write about?
What about paragraphs? How many?
What difficulties do I have now?
Have you started thinking about what to write for the article? Later on, we will focus on its structure. Here you can obtain more information and ideas to think about the content of your article.

This could be a great moment to start with your work on Twitter. Make your first posts summarizing the project and introducing Tower Bridge and using the hashtags of this project.

Challenge: English-speaking cities
Challenge Step 1: Open up a new Google Site and share it
The challenge in this project is a Google site about English-speaking cities. In this challenge, we are going to work in groups of 2/3 people. The first step is to create the new site using Google Sites.
You can have extra help watching the following video about registering and using Google Sites. One of the members of the groups is going to be the leader and is going to open up the site and share it with the rest of the members of the group. Thus, the other members will be able to edit the site as well.
After having created the site, check that the whole group can edit it and start designing a title page with the title English -Speaking Cities. In this first page, you have to describe what your group is going to create collaboratively: a website with information about 10 of the most important English - speaking cities in the world, one city per project
If you have created the google site previously, using another project from these series, you only have to add a new page to your Google site with the title "London". This is city we are going to work with at this project.
As you have to work in groups of 2/3 people, you can also use the website http://en.linoit.com/ to brainstorm your ideas, collect your links and reach an agreement on which digital materials you’re going to use at your Google Site for London even though you are working at different locations or at your own homes.
Continue with your posts on Twitter (the hashtag has be #EDIAlondon). Share the new page of your site and explain the project you are going to work on during the following sessions.
