Los textos argumentativos parten de un supuesto, en el que se emplea un estilo de redacción que pretende persuadir al lector, pues se exponen las razones a favor o en contra de determinada "posición" o "tesis".
Para lograr esto, suele iniciarse el texto con una exposición que ayude a entender los argumentos que se proponen. Es decir, es necesario poner al lector en contexto antes de pasar a exponer los beneficios o las características del tema que se trata. Para añadir credibilidad, este tipo de texto puede contener referencias bibliográfica que permiten demostrar su validez, pero también razonamientos de causa efecto, de autoridad (es decir, expertos en el tema) o de popularidad (por ejemplo, todos lo hacen), entre otros.
Un ejemplo de texto argumentativo son los artículos de opinión, los ensayos literarios y los ensayos académicos. Las disquisiciones teóricas filosóficas también pueden considerarse textos argumentativos. Por ejemplo, el libro Crítica a la razón pura de Immanuel Kant.
En Bachillerato 1 ya viste como era el formato de este tipo de redacción, repásalo:
The writer states an opinion and tries to convince readers that this opinion is justified with reasons, facts and examples:
Opening: states the topic and the writer's opinion.
Body: supports the writer's opinion with reasons, facts and examples. Each idea is developed in a new paragraph.
Closing: summarises and restates the writer's opinion.

Remember, these connectors have the same meaning depending on the context:
as = because = since
as a result of = because of = due to
