A FILM REVIEW

Connectors of Contrasts:

      • although (=a pesar de que / aunque)

      • but (=pero)

A film review has:

    • An opening:

            • the title

            • the main actor(s) and director

                  • directed by ... and starring

            • some general information (the type of film, when it was made, if it's based on a book, if it's part of a saga, ...)

                  • (It) is based on (a book / film / true story) ...

                  • It tells the story of ...

    • A body:

            • a description of the characters

            • the plot (the setting; the scenes; give a summary, but don't say the ending; ..... PRESENT SIMPLE or PRESENT SIMPLE PASSIVE and ADJECTIVES FOR DESCRIPTION)

                  • (The book / film is) set in ...

                  • The plot is about ...

                  • The main character is ...

                  • The film stars are ...

                  • The acting is ...

            • the strong and/or weak points of the film (the scenery, the soundtrack, ...)

                  • There is a lot to like about the film.

                  • Although it is not perfect, ...

                  • There are some weak moments.

                  • The book is well-written.

    • A closing:

            • an opinion (say if it is entertaining, ...)

                  • It is certainly worth seeing.

                  • Don't waste your time.

                  • Not worth the price of the ticket.

            • a recomendation

                  • I highly recommend it to ...

                  • I don't recommend this book / film because ...
