London - Camden Town
At the end of the session, you will have:
listened to a recording and done different comprehension activities,
thought about the differences between London and your town/city,
learnt more vocabulary related to restaurants.
One of the main free time activities in London is going to the pub after work in the evening. There’s a long tradition of socializing in bars & pubs. Let’s visit one of them in Camden Town, one of the liveliest parts of London.
Continue with your posts on Twitter (#taskopinion and #EDIAlondon). Camden Town and some of the London's bars and pubs have to be included.
The 'Rubric to assess a Tweet' can help you do a good job in this social network.
Is London similar to your town?
Listen carefully to the dialogue and do the activities that are proposed before and after listening. Each time you listen to the recording, you have to answer different questions related to a conversation in a London pub: "In the pub"
After having stopped at the pub and before taking the Double Decker bus to go to the following stop of our journey, let’s reflect on the topic of going out and socializing.
Let's try and answer the following questions:
Do people often go to restaurants /pubs on week days or just at the weekend?
Is it the same in your town / city?
Do teenagers and young people go out at the same times in both countries?
Do you also have to take the bus or the tube to go out with your friends?
Record your questions and answers in pairs and produce a video clip with your conversation. You can use the web WeVideo to record them.
Your task: Let's continue the research!
Task Step 2: Starting with the draft of your article of opinion
As the task for this project is to write an article of opinion about "the best way of entertainment for teenagers”, it will be necessary to learn about the structure of this kind of article:
Read about the structure of Articles of Opinion. Structure of the article.
Now, you have to look for some interesting links where you can find information about this topic: free time, entertainment, teenagers, etc. Your teacher can help you select the most interesting ones.
You have to share what you have found with the rest of the class through different means. You can use a Twitter hashtag (#taskopinion and #EDIAlondon could be some options).
You can organize the brainstorm ideas about “teenagers and free time” and start writing a draft of the article following the structure you have already learnt.
You can take a look at more Words related to entertainment in order to have more ideas and vocabulary for your article.
